1) Toyota
Toyota leads with a total of 8.683 million cars sold in 2019 and a share of 10.24% of the world’s total car sales. This is the second-best share of the company ever after 2012. Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Toyota, Aichi, Japan. It was founded by Kiichiro Toyoda and incorporated on August 28, 1937.
2) Volkswagen
Almighty Volkswagen holds the second position with a total of 6.436 million cars, and a decline of 1.8% compared to the previous year. Recording over 7.59% of the world’s car sales. The highest acquisition rate was recorded in 2011 and 2013 at 8% of global car sales. Volkswagen, shortened to VW, is a German automaker founded in 1937 by the German Labour Front and at the request of Adolf Hitler, known for the iconic Beetle and headquartered in Wolfsburg. It is the flagship brand of the Volkswagen Group, the largest automaker by worldwide sales in 2016 and 2017.
3) Ford
Famous American brand Ford, is in third place and accounted for a share of 5.59% of the international car market with a total of 4.735 million cars and a decline of 7.8% on an annual basis. Ford Motor Company, commonly known as Ford, is an American multinational automaker that has its main headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. It was founded by Henry Ford and incorporated on June 16, 1903.
4) Honda
Honda struggle this year to stay in fourth position despite its sales decline by 0.6% compared to 2018. This auto brand reached 4.630 million cars with a share of 5.46% of the total car sales. The Honda Motor Company, Ltd. is a Japanese public multinational conglomerate corporation primarily known as a manufacturer of automobiles, motorcycles, and power equipment. It was founded in September 24, 1948 in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan by Soichiro Honda, Takeo Fujisawa.
5) Nissan
Nissan ranked fifth with a total of 4.366 million cars and a 7.7% decline compared to last year, with a share of 5.15% of total car sales. The Nissan Motor Company, Ltd., trading as the Nissan Motor Corporation and often shortened to Nissan, is a Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer headquartered in Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Japan founded in December 26, 1933 by Yoshisuke Aikawa, Masujiro Hashimoto, William Gorham, Rokuro Aoyama.
6) Hyundai
Hyundai remained in sixth place just like the previous year with a share of 5.05% and sales of 4.279m cars with a decline of 2.1%. The Hyundai Motor Company, is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Seoul. It was founded by Chung Chung Ju-yung in December 29, 1967.
7) Chevrolet
In seventh position, we have Chevrolet with a market share of 4.52% and sales of 3.831 million cars, down 6.8%. Kia sold a total of 2.843 million cars realizing an increase of 0.3% on an annual basis and occupying eighth place with a market share of 3.35%. Kia Corporation, commonly known as Kia, formerly known as Kia Motors Corporation, and stylised as ΚΙΛ, is a South Korean multinational automotive manufacturer headquartered in Seoul. Kia was founded by Kim Cheol-ho in December 11, 1944, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, South Korea.

Mercedes occupies the ninth place with a share of 2.94% with a total of 2.490 million cars. Mercedes-Benz is both a German automotive marque and, from late 2019 onwards, a subsidiary – as Mercedes-Benz AG – of Daimler AG. BMW sits at the end of the list with 2.219 million cars, achieving the biggest growth rate of 3.9% on a yearly basis, accounting for 2.62% of the market share of international car sales.Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, commonly referred to as BMW, is a German multinational corporation which produces luxury vehicles and motorcycles. The company was founded in 1916 as a manufacturer of aircraft engines, which it produced from 1917 until 1918 and again from 1933 to 1945. The total sales of the 10 car companies worldwide are estimated to be 44.517m cars, representing 52.51% of the share of car sales around the world.
